Bus

The bus services in Aurangabad are extensive and efficient. With two different types of traveling and routes to choose from, the AMT (Aurangabad Municipal Transport) offers services to the outskirts of the city, as well as businesses, offices, schools and other various transport used by working people. The AMT buses become very crowded during morning and evening rush hours to and from work.

The MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation), on the other hand, connects tourists of Aurangabad to stores, nearby attractions, and villages of interest. These buses are of most importance to visitors, allowing regularly scheduled buses to connect you to your desired destinations such as Ajanta and Ellora caves. All buses providing tours arrive and leave from the Aurangabad Central Bus Stand, where tickets can be purchased.

Auto rickshaws are considered the best and most convenient way of getting around Aurangabad. They are easily available at any time, and always located closely to your departing location. Auto rickshaws have the advantage of manoeuvring around the city quite easily.

The rickshaws in Aurangabad are metered. Note that nighttime traveling (midnight to 5:00AM) costs one and a half times the regular fare).

Taxi and Car

Taxis are ideal for tourists wanting to sightsee all of the various destinations located sporadically around town. Travel agents can arrange taxis for you for a package deal depending on how long you are staying. Hotels also have a taxi counter.

Fares are calculated per km (as well as what type of car you have hired) and generally serve no less than 80km trips. Day tours are cheaper and provide you with transportation to popular attractions located along the outskirts, such as Ajanta, Ellora, Daulatabad and more.
